The Effia Kwesimintim Municipal Office of the Commission, as a measure to deepen community awareness and safeguard the future of young people, has spearheaded an interactive session with members of the Alasuna Muslim community in Kwesimintsim, focusing on the dangers of drug abuse and its far-reaching consequences.
Through a flash card display, Senior Civic Education Officer (SCEO) Harriet Kumatse emphasised that drug abuse is not only a personal tragedy but also a societal challenge that erodes productivity, fuels crime, and threatens the moral fabric of communities.
She urged parents, religious leaders, and youth groups to remain vigilant and proactive in protecting children from exposure to harmful substances.
The Alasuna Muslim community welcomed the initiative, with several participants commending the NCCE for tailoring civic education to address pressing social concerns.
They committed to reinforcing the lessons shared by integrating anti-drug messages into sermons, youth mentorship programs, and family discussions.
