NCCE Central Tongu Educates Apprentices on GBV Prevention and Gender Equality

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Central Tongu District Directorate at Adidome, engaged apprentices on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and gender equality as part of its civic education activities.

Madam Victoria Bosson took participants through Adolescent Reproductive Health, focusing on the physical, emotional, and social changes associated with adolescence. She also educated them on personal hygiene, healthy relationships, prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and the importance of accessing reliable information and support.

Madam Bosson urged participants to take their sexual and reproductive health seriously, speak out about challenges they encounter, and seek appropriate help when necessary.

She further educated the apprentices on the prevention of GBV, explaining its various forms, including physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. She encouraged participants to speak up, seek help when faced with abuse, and respect the rights and dignity of others.

Madam Doris Wagba, who handled the gender equality segment, highlighted the importance of ensuring equal rights and opportunities for all genders. She encouraged the apprentices to remain focused on their training and skills development to secure a better future.

Madam Wagba also stressed the need to promote mutual respect, unity and peaceful coexistence within communities.

The apprentices expressed appreciation to the NCCE for the education and said the engagement had equipped them with useful knowledge on GBV prevention, gender equality and adolescent reproductive health.
