NCCE’s Awareness Campaign on Misinformation in Cape Coast Schools

The Cape Coast Metropolitan Directorate of the NCCE has launched a public awareness campaign in senior high schools to educate students on the dangers of misinformation, disinformation, and hate speech. The initiative aims to equip students with knowledge on information disorder to critically assess information and avoid spreading false content.

Beyond media literacy, the campaign also emphasised the importance of discipline and respect among students, encouraging them to uphold positive values in their interactions both online and offline.

Students were also taken through real-life examples of how misinformation and hate speech have contributed to social unrest and conflicts. The session highlighted the role young people play in fostering a peaceful and informed society through responsible use of digital platforms.
