NCCE at Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) launch of statutory annual report

Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Ms. Kathleen Addy, has lauded the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) for instituting a Citizens' Version of its statutory reports on the management and use of petroleum revenues. Making a brief statement at the launch of the 2022 report in Accra, Ms. Addy said citizens cannot hold duty bearers accountable if they are not adequately informed about the use and management of state resources. The Citizens' version of PIAC's statutory report, she said, presents an opportunity to foster a significant step in promoting transparency and accountability on petroleum revenues.

Ms. Addy added that the NCCE takes pride in its role of constantly educating and empowering citizens on public accountability and described the move by PIAC as one that empowers citizens to hold duty-bearers accountable.
