The Jaman South Municipal edition of the Smart Governor’s Constitution Quiz for basic schools was held at the Drobo Senior High School Assembly Hall to commemorate Ghana’s 68th Independence Day. The competition, organised by the NCCE, aimed to deepen students' understanding of the 1992 Constitution. Participating schools included Bonna MA JHS, Evanne Lighthouse Christian JHS, Demonstration JHS, and Prince Kiddies Preparatory JHS. The Municipal Director, Mr. Emmanuel Oduro, who also served as the quizmaster, highlighted the importance of civic education in shaping responsible citizens. He stressed that equipping young people with knowledge of the country's laws empowers them to make informed decisions and contribute meaningfully to national development.
The Registrar from the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Mr. James Gnabikan, commended the students for their efforts and briefed them on CHRAJ’s role in protecting human rights. He encouraged them to report any form of violation they encounter. Mrs. Agnes Nyaku-Aziliko, the Jaman South Municipal Director of the Ghana Education Service, congratulated all participants and urged the students to take their studies seriously. She emphasised that quizzes enhance critical thinking and urged school authorities to organise similar events to promote effective learning. She further pledged the education service’s support for NCCE’s civic engagement initiatives.
After three rounds of intense competition, Evanne Lighthouse Christian JHS emerged victorious, with Prince Kiddies Preparatory School securing second place, while Demonstration JHS and Bonna MA JHS placed third and fourth, respectively. The winning school received a trophy, and all participants were awarded certificates, copies of the 1992 Constitution, and other educational materials. The event was broadcast live on Kumkumcha Radio 94.9 MHz and received support from Damoah Enterprise, Nana Appiah Enterprise, Frimps Oil, and Multi Credit Savings and Loans.
