The Mamprugu Moagduri Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has urged youth of the district capital of Yagaba to resist all forms of triggers to commit any act of violence especially as the General Election beckons.
The meeting, which was held at the premises of the Yagaba Assemblies of God Church, amassed a number of youth groups within the district, including some Persons with Disabilities among others.
District Director of the Commission’s Office in that District, Mr. Ibrahim Salifu in his address indicated, that dialogue is the way forward to straightening any form of misunderstanding in a human setting, advising that exchange of blows or the use of derogatory words is never the solution, as they are all constitute an infringement of rights.
“It is very possible for views to vary from one person to another in any human space, but even when there are dissenting opinions, let us do our best to agree to disagree “, Mr. Ibrahim appealed.
He, however, highlighted that idle hands are more prone to falling for the temptation of committing a social vice, hence called on the attendees to ensure they are kept engaged with work, either as a source of income or a domestic chore, as a measure to mitigate such tendencies.
The engagement forms part of the wrap-up activities to culminate the Commission’s education on the need to Prevent and Contain Violent Extremism (PCVE), a programme which is funded by the European Union.
