As a measure to combat the occurrence of violence in the upcoming General Elections, the Okaikwei North Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in collaboration with Africa Center for Democracy and Socio-economic Development (CDS Africa) organized a forum for the youth within their jurisdiction.
The forum assembled hundreds of disparate individual with varying ages within the youth bracket. Representative of CDS Africa, speaking on behalf of the Democracy Think Tank underscored the consequences of electoral violence, stressing on the need to preserve and hold in high esteem the peace democracy affords.
Addressing the audience, a member of staff of the District Office of the Commission, Ms. Joanna Ampomah Nkansah, called for an all-inclusive approach towards the development of our country, indicating that one’s involvement in the impending General Election is one of the steps to achieving that goal.
The public education was climaxed with the distribution of flyers and stickers that connote messages on curtailing electoral violence while promoting peaceful coexistence among members of the community.
