The Kwahu East District office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has held an e-constitution quiz competition for Public Officers in Kwahu East, Abetifi. The competition sought to challenge the knowledge of public officers from the Ghana Immigration Service, Stools Lands as well as NCCE on the relevance of the 1992 constitution of the Republic.
The e-constitution quiz is one of the strategies the NCCE uses to execute its core mandates, which is basically to conscientize Ghanaians on their civic rights and duties.
The Kwahu East District Director of the NCCE, Ms. Roberta Essilfuah Koah, in her address, mentioned that the competition sought to refresh and deepen the knowledge of public officials who serve the Kwahu East community on the constitution and other related matters.
Ms. Koah stated that six public officers including, three officers from the Ghana Immigration Service, one officer from the Stool Lands and two staff from NCCE participated in the competition.
Ms. Koah, said understanding the tenets of the constitution was important in enhancing the country's democratic credentials. She mentioned that it was therefore, important for citizens especially public servants to take interest in not only reading the provisions of the constitution but understanding it. She expressed gratitude to the competitors for their commitment and support to the success of the programme.
A representative of the Ghana Immigration Service, Kwahu-East, AICO II Hosarine Barimah, described the competition as interesting and the best way to learn the Constitution. She applauded the NCCE for its initiative in promoting and sustaining Ghana’s democracy. She also encouraged the Commission to replicate the competition to all public and civil services nationwide to empower all to become more responsible.
