The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) Deputy Chairman in-charge of Finance and Administration (F &A), Ms. Kathleen Addy has appealed to Ghanaians, especially those at the helm of affairs to help protect and preserve public properties and expose and combat their misuse and waste. This, she said, would enable generations yet unborn to also come and use.
Ms. Addy, who gave these admonitions at a 3-day closing ceremony refresher workshop organised by the NCCE with support from the EU, for NCCE District Directors at Pepease-Kwahu in the Kwahu-East District of the Eastern Region, said it was unacceptable and immoral to handle state properties with scorn just because is for the state.
The Deputy Chairman of the NCCE, Ms. Kathy Addy, in her remarks commended NCCE staff across the country for their commitment in executing the Commission’s constitutional mandate. She charged participants to apply the skills and knowledge acquired during the information sharing workshop to improve civic education delivery. “This year is an election year, as civic educators we must speak with one voice and stay away from partisanship”, she appealed. Ms. Addy also urged the District Directors to be ambassadors of the Commission by selling its image to the outside world.

The Commission Secretary, Mr. Kojo Tito Voegborlo called on the directors to help educate the citizenry on the principles and objectives of the 1992 Constitution as the fundamental law of the land. Mr. Voegborlo explained that this would enable the citizenry to protect and defend the Constitution against all forms of abuse and violation. He also advised the staff of the Commission to use the Civic Education Clubs (CECs) to educate Ghanaians, especially in-school youths on their rights and responsibilities since they were the most “hanging fruits”.
