Sekyere Central NCCE holds inter-school Civic Debate

As part of measures to imbibe civic values in the younger generation, the Sekyere Central Office of the National Commission for Civic Education has organized an inter-school debate contest between Nsuta Presby Junior High School and Mer-B International School, both within the District.

The debate sought to gauge the understanding of the students on the provisions of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana, while testing them on general issues of national interest.

On the motion, "Democracy is never the best system of governance for Ghana", contestants at the end of the day exhibited eloquence and profound knowledge on the subject matter, making the debate not only thrilling but insightful as well.

In an interaction with the contestants, they registered their immense appreciation to the Commission for the opportunity to share their perspectives on national issues with the general public, which according to them has boosted their morale to be more vociferous in the days ahead, as far as issues of national interest are concerned.

The Sekyere Central Office of the Commission additionally revealed they are willing to extend this activity to other schools within the jurisdiction knowing the young ones will derive from such engagements.
