NCCE South Tongu Takes Child Trafficking Education to Sela Radio

The South Tongu District Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mr. Seth Fiagorme, on Wednesday, 20th May 2026, appeared on Sela Radio 97.1 FM in Dabala to educate the public about the negative effects of child trafficking on children's education and overall development.

The live radio discussion focused on the increasing concern of child trafficking within the district and its harmful impact on children’s safety, education, and future opportunities.

Speaking during the programme, Mr. Fiagorme explained that children who fall victim to trafficking are often deprived of their right to education because they are forced into child labor, fishing activities, domestic servitude, and other exploitative practices. He noted that such conditions expose children to abuse, trauma, school dropout, poor academic performance, and long-term psychological effects.

He further stressed the importance of collective responsibility in combating child trafficking, calling on parents, guardians, traditional authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to work together to protect children and keep them in school.

Mr. Fiagorme also encouraged members of the public to report suspected cases of child trafficking to the appropriate authorities for immediate action and intervention.

The radio discussion was part of the NCCE’s ongoing public education and community sensitization efforts to promote child protection and safeguard the rights and welfare of children in the South Tongu District and beyond.
