NCCE Savannah Regional Directorate Engages Security Agencies on Responsible Digital Citizenship

The Savannah Regional Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education has undertaken working visits to selected security agencies as part of activities marking the 2026 Constitution Week Celebration.

The visits, which were in line with the Directorate’s annual work plan, were led by the Savannah Regional Director of the NCCE, Mr. Zitor Issaka. They took place on 11th and 13th May 2026 and included engagements with the Ghana Immigration Service and the Savannah Regional Command of the National Intelligence Bureau.

Speaking during the engagements, Mr. Issaka highlighted the theme for the 2026 Constitution Week Celebration, “Upholding Our Constitution in a Digital Age: Our Collective Responsibility.” He noted that the theme was timely, considering the growing influence of digital platforms in communication, information sharing, civic participation, and national discourse.

Mr. Issaka explained that while digital technology has created opportunities for faster communication and public education, it also presents challenges that require responsible conduct from citizens. He cautioned against the spread of misinformation, disinformation, hate speech, cyberbullying, online fraud, and other cyber-related offences that could threaten social harmony and national security.

He urged personnel of the security agencies and the public to verify information before sharing it, respect the rights and dignity of others online, and use digital platforms in ways that promote peace, tolerance, national unity, and constitutional order.

The engagements also provided an opportunity for the NCCE and the security agencies to strengthen collaboration in promoting constitutional awareness, responsible citizenship, and public understanding of civic duties in the digital era.

Mr. Issaka further stressed that upholding the Constitution is a shared responsibility and that security institutions remain important partners in safeguarding peace, public order, and democratic stability.

The visits formed part of the NCCE’s broader efforts to deepen citizens’ appreciation of the 1992 Constitution, promote responsible digital citizenship, and encourage collective action in protecting Ghana’s democratic values.
