The bourgeoning rate of information disorder has attracted the attention of all stakeholders, and the volume of calls to nip it in the bud has increased tremendously. It is on the back of this that the Greater Accra Regional Director of the NCCE, Mr. Mawuli Agbenu, explained the dangers and repercussions of sharing and condoning false information.
He highlighted this at a seminar at Sacred Heart SHS in Jamestown, which was aimed at discouraging various forms of information disorder and hate speech. Mr. Agbenu explained key concepts such as disinformation, misinformation, malinformation, and hate speech, stressing the importance of being cautious when sharing information. He encouraged the audience to verify facts, check sources, and create content that is fact-based to help curb the spread of misleading and harmful information.
