The Ga West Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organized a civic education program for Upper Primary and Junior High School pupils of Famwag Islamic Basic School as part of the 2026 Citizenship Week Celebration.
The program, held on Wednesday, 5th June 2026, was under the national theme, “Upholding Our Constitution in the Digital Age: Our Collective Responsibility,” with the sub-theme, “Growing Up Digital: The Ghanaian Child Upholding the Constitution Online.”
The engagement focused on educating pupils on responsible digital citizenship and the need to uphold constitutional values while using online platforms. Pupils were taken through issues such as misinformation and disinformation, cybercrime, digital fraud, and online abuse.
The resource persons, Castro Kofi Appiah and Prosper Missinou, encouraged students to verify information before sharing it online, respect the rights of others in the digital space, and use social media responsibly.
They further emphasized the importance of critical thinking, online safety, and ethical behavior, urging the pupils to become responsible digital citizens who contribute positively to national development and uphold the principles of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.
The program forms part of the NCCE’s ongoing efforts to deepen constitutional awareness and promote civic responsibility among school children and the general public.
