Ms. Kathleen Addy, Chairperson, NCCE receives delegation from UN-Ghana

Chairperson of NCCE, Ms. Kathleen Addy has received a delegation from UN-Ghana at the Commission’s Head Office in Accra. The meeting was cordial and interactive and there were a lot of positive discussions. It mainly focused on plans for the upcoming general election and the needed collaboration.

Ms. Kathleen Addy highlighted some priority areas the Commission is championing going into the 2024 General Election. She listed and explained four concepts; money in politics/vote buying, religious tolerance, electoral violence and fake news.

Ms. Addy said this year’s civic engagements seek to empower citizens and also rally them to play active roles before, during and after the December election.

She added that the Commission is well positioned to deliver special programmes this year and every citizen will be involved to contribute to deepening national cohesion and promoting a peaceful, participatory and transparent election.

The UN Resident Coordinator, His Excellency Charles Abani was impressed with the Commission’s preparedness for the 2024 elections so far and likened the NCCE's priorities for this year to election-related programmes by some UN agencies in Ghana. He was positive of a sustained partnership and thanked the NCCE for its warm reception.

Deputy Chairman, Finance and Administration, Mr. Victor Brobbey and some senior officials of the Commission were present at the meeting.
