The promotion of responsible citizenship remains a crucial mandate that the NCCE pursues earnestly. In this regard, the Fanteakwa South District Office of the Commission has engaged members of the District Okada and “Yellow Yellow” Union to sensitise them on the dangers of drug abuse and cyberbullying.
Addressing the riders, a Chief Field Officer of the Commission, Mr. Jehoshaphat Frederick Adusei, explained that drug abuse has serious effects on individuals, families, and the wider community. He noted that the practice reduces productivity, exposes users to health risks, contributes to crime, and increases the likelihood of road accidents, thereby affecting community development and national progress.
Mr. Adusei encouraged participants to avoid harmful substances and make choices that protect their health, safety, and livelihoods. He reminded the riders that their work places them in constant contact with the public, making it important for them to demonstrate discipline, self-control, and responsible conduct at all times.
A Principal Civic Education Officer, Mr. Adu-Asare, also cautioned the riders against cyberbullying and other forms of harmful online behaviour. He urged them to use digital platforms responsibly and avoid actions that could insult, threaten, embarrass, or damage the reputation of others.
Mr. Adu-Asare further advised participants to be careful about the information they post, share, or comment on online. He stressed that responsible digital conduct is necessary for protecting the dignity of others, promoting peace, and strengthening social harmony within communities.
Members of the Okada and “Yellow Yellow” Union expressed appreciation to the NCCE for the engagement, describing it as timely and educative. They noted that the session had deepened their understanding of the personal and social consequences of drug abuse, as well as the need to behave responsibly in digital spaces.
Participants pledged to share the knowledge gained with their colleagues and serve as ambassadors of positive change within the district.
