The New Tafo office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has advised the public to always verify messages they receive on coronavirus and only share authentic information coming from the Ghana Health Service or World Health Organization websites. As part of the Commission’s COVID-19 public education, the office embarked on a public education exercise on a “Market Day” at the main market of New Tafo of the Abuakwa North Municipality in the Eastern Region on the COVID-19 vaccine. The engagement was mainly to educate the public on the need to get vaccinated and disregard the false notions among the general public on the vaccine.
The Civic Educators made the public aware that the COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective. The team explained to the public all the assurances given by the Food and Drugs Authority and the Ministry of Health about the vaccine.
The NCCE during the outreach encouraged the public to continue adhering to all COVID- 19 safety protocols even after receiving the vaccine. According to the educators, the vaccine only complements the safety protocols; urging them also to be responsible citizens and get vaccinated to help prevent the spread of the virus.
