The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) Office at Atiwa East Districtin the Eastern Region has appealed to community leaders of Awurosua to influence citizens in their community to accept and participate in the COVID-19 vaccination exercise. At a town hall meeting held at the Chief’s Palace, the NCCE team educated the leaders on the benefits of the COVID-19 vaccine and called on them to support the vaccination exercise.
A Senior Civic Education Officer, Saviour Ametefe explained to the Chiefs and Elders of the town that the COVID-19 vaccine is safe, effective and free for all and encouraged them to get vaccinated. According to him, the COVID-19 vaccine will help stop the spread of the disease, reduce severe illness and other related deaths. “We can overcome COVID-19 together if we all become responsible citizens and get vaccinated” he added.
Mr. Ametefe reminded the traditional authorities to continue adhering to the COVID-19 preventive protocols including keeping their face mask on at all times, washing hands regularly with soap under running water and maintaining social and physical distance at crowded areas. He again asked them to engage members in the community on the importance of the vaccine.
