The Ahafo Ano North Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has sensitized some selected basic school children in the area as part of activities marking this year’s Citizenship Week celebration with a call on pupils to develop a nationalistic attitude.
The Annual Citizenship Week celebration is meant to inculcate in pupils the values of citizenship and to remind them of their roles and responsibilities as citizens to help build a vibrant economy.
This year’s celebration was under the theme “30 Years of consolidating constitutional democracy: Building National Cohesion, the Role of the Ghanaian Child”.
Addressing the pupils at a separate gathering, the Municipal Director for NCCE, Mr. Musah Sulemana said the values as Ghanaians resonate with the following; foster the spirit of loyalty to the country, protect and preserve the good name of Ghana, uphold and defend the good name of Ghana, respect the rights of others and to foster national unity and live in harmony with others.
These according to him would help protect the country’s constitution and democracy and foster unity among Ghanaians to consolidate constitutional governance.
He admonished the pupils to allow themselves to be trained to become responsible citizens capable of sustaining the country’s democracy and eschew social vices that society frowned upon.
He also cautions the pupils to be mindful of their actions and inactions today since they are the future leaders of the country.
