The Deputy Chairman of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Victor Brobbey, has urged young people to take an active role in upholding democratic values and promoting civic responsibility.
Speaking at a seminar organised by the NCCE in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Mr Brobbey emphasised that Ghana’s democratic stability depends on the engagement of its youth in governance and national development. He highlighted the need for young people to be well-informed, politically active, and committed to principles of transparency and accountability.
Dr Edward Ampratwum, Head of Governance & Inclusive Growth at UNDP, reinforced this call by stressing the importance of youth participation in decision-making. He noted that empowering young people with civic knowledge and leadership skills is crucial for sustainable development.
The seminar, held at the West African Centre for Crop Improvement at the University of Ghana, brought together youth leaders from various groups. The session was facilitated by Dora Hammond, NCCE’s Director of Administration.
