Civic Education Club (CEC) members from the Zion Care Academy School at Sege under the tutelage of the Ada West District office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Greater Accra region have paid a visit to the District Ambulance Service and the Ghana National Fire Service.
The pupils were taught how to fight fires by a team of Fire Service personnel as well as administering Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, Choking Management, and Blood Control Techniques by personnel from the Ghana Ambulance Service.
Briefing the pupils, the Ada West District 2IC (2nd In Command) of the Fire Command, Emmanuel Arthur, said, it was important for everyone to have some basic skills regarding how to deal with fire outbreaks without necessarily depending on the Ghana National Fire Service.
He noted that their visit was important for the school children, which he said would keep them safe during any fire outbreak whenever they may find themselves.
The Ada West District Commander of the National Ambulance Service, Aliu Mohammed, educated the school children on the need to have some knowledge of basic first aid techniques and how the National Ambulance Service started.
A tutor at the school, Stephen Kwesi Tetteh-Fio on behalf of the school authorities was grateful to the Fire Service officers and the Ambulance Service personnel for the engagement. He said,
“We, the teachers, have also learned a lot from this Basic Life Support training. We now know the techniques to apply in case there is an emergency,” he added.
