"YOU WILL NEVER APPRECIATE GOOD TIMES UNTIL BAD TIMES COME SO LET US SAFEGUARD THE PEACE WE ARE ENJOYING AS A COUNTRY" - NCCE Ahafo Regional Director

The Ahafo Regional Directorate of National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), as part of the activities to commemorate the Annual Constitution Week Celebration, engaged the various security agencies in the Tano North Municipality.

The Ahafo Regional Director, Mr Eric Adu, was accompanied by the Municipal Director, Mr Joseph Oduro Buabeng and other staff, first, visited the Ghana National Fire Service, then proceeded to the Ghana Immigration Service and finally ended the Programme at the Ghana Prisons Service all in Duayaw Nkwanta.

During the interactions, Mr. Eric Adu admonished the officers to be more patriotic, diligent and vigilant than ever before as the Country prepares to go to the polls on 7th December 2024, to elect the President and Parliamentarians.

He informed the officers that the theme for the Constitution Week Celebration is based on the 2024 year theme of the NCCE for its entire civic and Public education activities; "Together, we can build Ghana: so get involved".

The Ahafo Regional Director told the men and women in uniform to help build a better Ghana we all aspire to have and that they should not think is the work of the politicians alone. He asserted that in nation building, everyone counts and the contribution of each citizen is invaluable. He said, "no one can better develop Ghana except we, the citizens of Ghana."

He appealed to them to talk to their family members to be law-abiding citizens and not to foment any trouble that may jeopardise the wind of peace prevailing in the Country.

He encouraged them to be resolute and remain steadfast, especially during the elections when they are deployed to assist in safeguarding the security and integrity of the elections.

He again tasked them to build institutional synergies among themselves and also, collaborate with the NCCE so that together we can shape the mindset of all Ghanaians for accelerated socio-economic development.

During the open forum session, officers tasked the NCCE to intensify education on how to cast ballots appropriately during the elections to reduce the incidence of rejected ballots

They also pleaded with the NCCE to advise the Electoral Commission to pay their allowance for the work they did during the 2023 District Level Elections.

The Ghana Police Service was not available for the engagement, as the officers are actively still engaged in the Limited Voter Registration exercise.
