World Disability Day Programme Encourages Inclusive Political Participation in DLEs

Mr. Harris Quansah, a Guest of NCCE Asunafo North Municipal Office, in his speech, raised awareness and encouraged individuals with disabilities to actively participate in the decision-making process by aspiring to be elected as Assembly members in the forthcoming district level elections.

This was during a landmark event held on World Disability Day at the Roman Parish Hall in Goaso, organized by Ghana National Fire Service, Ahafo Region. The programme aimed at Action to Rescue and Achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Persons with Disabilities.

He passionately articulated the significance of disability-inclusive politics and its potential to shape a more equitable and compassionate society. He added that we must ensure that disability does not deprive anyone of their right to actively participate in the decision-making process at the local level, as this can lead to a more representative and inclusive democracy.

Mr. Harris Quansah encouraged individuals with disabilities to take the plunge and consider running for assembly positions in the upcoming district level elections scheduled for December 19, 2023. He cited one of them (Mr. Joseph Kwarteng) aspiring to be an Assembly member of the Fahoyeden Electoral area.

He concluded that they should all go out in their numbers to go and exercise their franchise without any discrimination.
