Wassa Amenfi Central NCCE holds Inter-Party Dialogue Committee meeting

The Wassa Amenfi Central District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Western Region has organised an Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) meeting to discuss strategies to ensure peace before, during, and after the 2024 general elections.

The engagement provided a platform for participants to dialogue and forge collaborations to address electoral concerns, promote tolerance, and mitigate potential conflicts within the district.

It was attended by representatives from political parties, security services, traditional and religious leaders, state institutions, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), among other interest groups.

Mr. Anthony Kelvin Amoo, the Wassa Amenfi Central NCCE Director, speaking at the meeting, said it was part of the Commission’s broader efforts to institute proactive measures to foster peaceful elections and ensure political stability in the country.

He said, “All of us must be interested in the peace and stability of our country in this electioneering period, so we should come together and ensure we preserve the peace we are currently enjoying as a nation.”

Mr. Amoo urged all stakeholders to raise awareness of the negative consequences of voter inducement, mis/disinformation, religious intolerance, use of denigrating comments on campaign platforms by politicians, and other acts that could breed violence in the upcoming polls.

Mr. Amoo encouraged political parties to embark on issue-based campaigns to help the electorate make informed decisions for the development of the country.

The representatives of the political parties present at the meeting pledged to preach peace to their supporters to ensure peaceful conduct of the December 7 polls.
