The Talensi District Office of NCCE has organized a quiz competition for some students of basic schools in the jurisdiction. This educational event is incorporated in the Commission’s encompassing objective of enhancing the understanding of Ghana’s Constitution among young learners, as well as providing a means to stir up civic awareness.
Addressing the gathering, Director of the Talensi District Office of NCCE, Madam Dorcas Atia, highlighted the significance of the Constitution as the foundation of our democracy, hence, a clear comprehension of this legal framework empowers an individual to navigate the prevailing system of governance.
She thus encouraged the students to consider themselves as active participants who matter in the democratic process and will eventually be the future leaders who will contribute to the country's progress.
The Director further called on the youth to embrace their civic duties and responsibilities, stressing that knowledge of the Constitution is essential for making informed decisions, exercising their rights, as well as serving as a guide towards the performance of their civic duties.
The quiz brought together students from Tongo Girls Model JHS, Wobil JHS (St Martin's JHS), Salvation Army JHS, and St. Theresa JHS. Anticipation filled the air as students, clad in their school uniforms, gathered to showcase their knowledge about the fundamental principles and values enshrined in the Constitution.
The quiz consisted of three rounds with questions ranging from historical context, citizens' rights, responsibilities, and significant provisions within the Constitution. The competition was intense, with students displaying remarkable enthusiasm and teamwork.
