Oyibi Zonal CEC Visits Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park

As part of Ghana’s 68th Independence Day celebrations, the Oyibi Zonal office of the NCCE in the Kpone Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA) organised an educational excursion for students of Inspired Vision Primary and Junior High School, Appolonia. The students, members of the school's Civic Education Club (CEC), visited the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, which hosts a mausoleum and museum in Accra.

At the park, the students were given insight into the history of the mausoleum and the life of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President. The students explored various exhibits, including the bronze statue of Dr. Nkrumah in his iconic pose, the tombs of Dr. Nkrumah and his wife, Madam Fathia Nkrumah, as well as personal artifacts such as books, photographs, a piano, clothing, original documents, speeches, and letters from his leadership period as Ghana’s President.

Other topics discussed were Ghana’s independence struggle, patriotism, and appreciation for the country’s democratic journey. The CEC members actively participated in discussions, enhancing their knowledge of Ghana’s history and national heritage. The excursion proved to be a highly educational experience, leaving the students inspired by the legacy of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

The students were accompanied by the school’s headmaster, Mr. Emmanuel Owusu, along with Ms. Joyce Zowonu and Ms. Afi Okwah Quarshie, both NCCE staff.
