EMPOWER WOMEN TO GET INVOLVED IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

The Birim Central Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged the Oda Central Market women in the upcoming District Level Elections. This engagement was necessary to whip up the interest of women in politics as a means to bridge the gender margin between men and women in politics, especially at the district level.

The Brim Central District Director of the NCCE; Madam Rejoice Biscoff noted that women are capable of contributing their quota to the development of our communities and as such, they need to be supported, empowered, and given the mantle of leadership. She therefore called for mass participation and women's involvement in running for Assembly and Unit Committee Member positions.

The Senior Field Officer (SFO); Mr Samuel Akuamoah Mireku also highlighted the qualifications of persons who aspire to contest for the Assembly and Unit Committee positions need to possess. He stated that one must be a citizen of Ghana, must be a resident of the said district or municipality, must have lived in the electoral area for a period not less than a year, and must have no criminal record, etc.
