The Winneba Directorate of National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged officers of the Effutu Station of the Ghana National Fire Service as part of activities ahead of the December 7, 2024, General Elections.
During the session, the Central Regional Director of the Commission, who also served as leader of the delegation, Mr. Robert Kow Ewur, highlighted the pivotal role of the Fire Service within the security space, adding that their part in maintaining sanity during and after the general elections cannot be underestimated. “Always hold on to your values of objectivity and non-partisanship, as these are guiding principles of your service to the country”, Mr. Ewur stated.
Touching on security alertness, the Municipal Director of the Winneba Office of NCCE, Mr. Sena Bosson Amedenu emphasized the need for the Service to stay vigilant against any potential acts, such as the destruction of billboards, posters, and other political party paraphernalia that could trigger large-scale violence.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Commander of the Fire Service Station, DOU Adu-Doku, in his remarks was full of praise of the Commission for its continuous endeavour to herald civic-related issues, especially ones that border on peaceful elections in every election year. He further implored the Commission to sustain its engagements with religious and traditional leaders, as well as the political parties and other relevant stakeholders, stressing their influence on the electoral process.
The engagement ended with fruitful discussions on how both institutions can embark on future collaborations in the interest of the municipality and the nation at large.
