The Ada West District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has intensified public education on the rule of law and anti-corruption as part of activities marking the 2026 Citizenship Week Celebration.
The exercise featured a radio discussion on Nkwa FM with Mr. Michael Sagoe of the NCCE and Mr. Ebo Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Rook Link Africa, an NGO focused on promoting accountability and good governance.
The program, which aimed at deepening public awareness on constitutional values, focused on the theme of promoting the rule of law and strengthening the fight against corruption in Ghana.
Speaking during the discussion, Mr. Michael Sagoe explained that the rule of law means every individual is equal before the law, regardless of position or social status.
He noted that the laws of the country apply equally to all citizens, from the President to the ordinary Ghanaian, and urged the public to respect the laws, report corrupt practices, and uphold their civic responsibilities as stated under Article 41 of the 1992 Constitution.
Mr. Sagoe further encouraged citizens to become more responsible and patriotic in order to help strengthen democracy and national development.
On his part, Mr. Ebo Smith stated that corruption remains one of the major obstacles to Ghana’s development because it denies citizens access to basic social services and weakens public trust in institutions.
He therefore called on Ghanaians to demand accountability from leaders and support state institutions in tackling corruption across the country.
Listeners who participated in the program were also encouraged to reject bribery, promote transparency, and contribute positively to nation-building through active citizenship.
The radio discussion formed part of the NCCE’s nationwide Citizenship Week activities aimed at empowering citizens to play active roles in safeguarding the Constitution and building a corruption-free Ghana.
