As part of the 2026 Constitution Week Celebration under the theme, *“Upholding Our Constitution in the Digital Age,”* the Kpone Katamanso Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), through its Oyibi Zonal Office, engaged learners of Dankamf School Complex at Oyibi on responsible digital behavior.
The sensitization program, led by Mr. Jones Yeboah, focused on educating learners on digital issues such as cyber fraud, misinformation, disinformation, cyberbullying, and other internet-related vices.
During the engagement, learners were educated on relevant provisions of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana as well as the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038). They were advised to be mindful of their online activities by ensuring that any content they post or share is truthful, respectful, and not harmful to others.
The facilitators emphasized that although the Constitution guarantees freedom of speech, it also promotes responsibility, respect, peace, and justice among citizens.
Learners were further encouraged to adopt responsible digital practices by verifying information before posting, commenting, or sharing on social media platforms and groups. They were also advised to avoid disclosing personal information such as passwords, location details, and private images online.
Additionally, the learners were cautioned against chatting with unknown persons online and encouraged to use the internet primarily for educational and productive purposes. They were also urged to report suspicious or unsafe online activities to parents, teachers, or appropriate authorities, including the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) and the Ghana Police Service (GPS).
The program also highlighted the dangers of cyberbullying, with learners encouraged to say no to online harassment and support victims of such acts.
At the end of the program, the learners took a pledge to abstain from cyber fraud, avoid spreading false information, respect the opinions of others, use technology responsibly, and contribute towards building a better Ghana.
