NCCE DENKYEMBUOR DISTRICT EDUCATES CITIZENS TO BE AGENTS OF PEACE

The Denkyembuor District office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) as part of the 2023 Annual Constitution Week celebration, engaged members of the Presbyterian Church, Mmofrafadwene, Akwatia in the Eastern region on the theme “30 years of Consolidating Democracy: Building National Cohesion through Civic Education and Participation in Local Governance”. This engagement took place on 14th May 2023.

The Denkyembuor District Director of NCCE, Mr. Ernest Kwami Billy Eli explained to the members why it is important to always be agents of peace. He opined that living in harmony with one another and tolerating divergent opinions are values enshrined in the 1992 Constitution to guide the conduct of citizens. This, he indicated promotes cohesion and national development. He advised that peace should be held in high esteem.

On local governance, he encouraged members to participate in the upcoming District Level Elections. He also outlined the roles of an Assembly Member and Unit Committee Member, who qualifies to hold such a position devoid of partisanship.

Similar activities were held at the Church of Pentecost, the Methodist Church, the Assemblies of God church and the Church of Christ.
