A Commission Member at the National Commission for Civic Education, Mrs. Hajara Rufai Mohammed has called on the youth in Ghana to actively get involved in nation-building efforts. Speaking at a three-day workshop organised by the NCCE with funding support from UNESCO and the Ghana Commission for UNESCO in Accra, Mrs. Hajara Mohammed-Rufai stated that involving the youth at all levels of development and national discourse will help amplify their voices, influence policy, and encourage civic participation.
'The Ghanaian youth must be heard and their voices must be captured in our democratic discourse, and as a country, we must continue to nurture and engage our youth with patriotic values to enable them to play active roles in national and democratic development', she said.
Mrs. Hajara Mohammed-Rufai applauded UNESCO for its support to the NCCE and its commitment to creating platforms to help promote youth participation, building peace among men and women, and civic engagements in Ghana’s democratic governance.
