The Kadjebi District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has paid a courtesy call on the Kadjebi District Chief Executive (DCE), Dr. Sam Issaka Suraj, to strengthen collaboration in the promotion of civic education and good governance in the district.
The meeting, held at the DCE’s office in Kadjebi in the Oti Region, formed part of efforts to deepen cooperation between the NCCE and the Kadjebi District Assembly.
Mr. Daniel Agbesi Latsu, Kadjebi District Director of the NCCE, said the visit was also to brief the Assembly on the Directorate’s program, achievements, and operational challenges.
He noted that with support from the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) and the European Union (EU), the Directorate had organized civic engagement activities for youth groups, women groups, Assembly Members, and students, particularly members of the Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School (KASEC) Civic Education Club.
According to him, the program focused on promoting the rule of law, responsible citizenship, and the fight against corruption.
Mr. Latsu also appealed to the Assembly to support the repair of the Directorate’s broken-down motorbike to help officers reach remote communities for public education campaigns.
Dr. Suraj commended the NCCE for its continuous efforts in promoting democratic values and civic responsibility among citizens, especially the youth.
He assured the Directorate of the Assembly’s support and stressed the importance of sustaining civic education program to nurture responsible citizens for national development.
The Kadjebi District Coordinating Director (DCD), Mr. Innocent Komla Gavua, also praised the NCCE’s public education efforts and encouraged stronger collaboration between state institutions to promote development and peaceful coexistence in the district.
