Asuogyaman District Commemorates Independence Day with A Quiz

The Ghana Constitution Quiz Competition, organised by the Asuogyaman District Directorate of the NCCE, ended with Akosombo Wesley Methodist Basic School emerging as the winner. The event, held at the Wesley Methodist Church Auditorium in Akosombo, was part of activities marking Ghana’s 68th Independence Day celebrations. Six (6) first-cycle schools participated in the quiz, demonstrating their knowledge of the 1992 Constitution and current affairs. After three competitive rounds, Wesley Methodist Basic secured first place with 55 points, followed by VRA Presby Basic with 48 points and VRA Nuriya Islamic Basic in third place with 43 points.

Mr. Alexander Boakye Yiadom, District Director of NCCE, commended the Ghana Education Service (GES), head teachers, teachers, and students for their participation. He highlighted that the strong collaboration between stakeholders aligns with the Commission’s theme for the year, “Ghana’s Future: Our Collective Responsibility.” He urged Ghanaians to engage with the NCCE through its activities that transcends election education. He also encouraged participants to follow NCCE’s social media channels for timely updates on programmes undertaken.

Madam Rebecca Koomson, Head Teacher of Wesley Methodist Basic, praised the NCCE for organising an insightful competition. She noted that the quiz deepened students’ understanding of the 1992 Constitution and Ghana’s history. Other NCCE staff present included Mr. Francis Matey, Mrs. Danquah Ramatu, Ms. Emelda N.A Amankwa, Mr. Joel Sam, and Mr. Philip Sabla, who all contributed to the success of the programme.
