Women participants shared their experiences at a follow-up forum organised by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) at the Assemblies of God Church auditorium in Effiakuma, in the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality. The forum formed part of the NCCE's project on civic engagement on the Rule of Law and the fight against corruption, sponsored by the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) and the European Union, according to the Municipal Director, Mr Yusif Osman.
The follow-up forum gave the NCCE an opportunity to hear first-hand how the participants had used the knowledge acquired during the earlier engagement, to gauge the impact of the project on the groups involved.
Fifty participants took turns at the forum to explain how they had put into practice the knowledge acquired from the earlier engagement to sensitize their members on corruption. These came from market women's associations, dressmakers' and hairdressers' associations, youth groups and other identifiable groups.
The Deputy Western Regional Director of the NCCE, Mr Lan Kwame Tugbenu, addressing the participants, urged them to continue educating the public on the effects of corruption while stressing that attitudinal change calls for a process and not just a one-off event.
Mr Tugbenu reminded the participants to call on the NCCE if they needed any support in carrying out their sensitization activities. He added that the feedback from the forum would also help the Commission to know the impact of the project.
