NCCE Sensitizes Mafi Avedo Community on Gender-Based Violence and Adolescent Reproductive Health

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) organized a community durbar at the Mafi Avedo Market Centre to educate residents on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Adolescent Reproductive Health, and Gender Equality.

The program, held at 10:00 a.m., brought together chiefs, opinion leaders, youth, men, women, and other members of the community. The sensitization aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of gender-based violence, promote responsible adolescent reproductive health practices, and encourage gender equality within the community.

Speaking during the event, the resource persons highlighted the need for collective efforts to prevent gender-based violence and protect the rights and well-being of women, girls, and other vulnerable groups. They also educated participants on the importance of providing adolescents with accurate reproductive health information to enable them to make informed and responsible decisions.

The resource persons included Mr. Wisdom Nyikplokpo of the Ghana Health Service, Madam Evelyn Abese, and Madam Ametsigo Kaka of the Mamalyn Charity Foundation. They encouraged community members to challenge harmful social norms, report incidents of abuse, and support victims of gender-based violence.

Participants were also urged to promote equal opportunities for both males and females and to create a safe and supportive environment where adolescents can thrive.

The durbar concluded with a strong call on all community members to work together to eliminate gender-based violence, promote healthy lifestyles among adolescents, and uphold gender equality as essential pillars for sustainable community development.
