NCCE Sensitises 640 First-Year NVTI Students on School Rules and the 1992 Constitution

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has sensitised 640 first-year students of the Takoradi Technical Institute in Takoradi on school rules and regulations and the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana.

The Western Regional Director of the NCCE, Mr Andrews Ofori Larbi, and the Deputy Regional Director, Mr Lan Kwame Tugbenu, took turns to address the students, made up of 520 males and 120 females.

The officers noted that the students come from different backgrounds but share one main goal: to study hard and pass their examinations with flying colours. They advised the students to shy away from bad friends and negative influences, keep the company of good friends, and respect their tutors and the elderly at all times.

The students were reminded that school property is public property and must not be destroyed. Destroying it is a criminal offence and contravenes Article 41(f) of the 1992 Constitution, which places a duty on every citizen to protect and preserve public property.

The NCCE urged the students to act as ambassadors of change and peace, both on campus and in their communities, and to obey school rules and regulations to become good future leaders. They were also encouraged to use social media and the digital space for their studies and not for harmful purposes.

The NCCE Civic Education Club was also introduced to the students. The Commission expressed the belief that, with proper guidance and hard work, the institution could produce a future President of Ghana.

The NCCE reiterated its commitment to working with educational institutions to instil civic responsibility, discipline and patriotism in young Ghanaians.
