The Savannah Regional Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) engaged pupils of Jonokponto D/A Primary and JHS as well as Achubunyo Primary and JHS, as part of the 2026 Annual Citizenship Week Celebration.
The engagement focused on the theme, “Growing Digital: The Ghanaian Child Upholding the Constitution Online,” with discussions highlighting online safety, responsible digital behavior, and the importance of making positive real-life connections while using digital platforms.
Resource persons interacted with pupils in classroom sessions, educating them on the need to use social media and online platforms responsibly. Pupils were encouraged to think critically before sharing information online and to always consider whether their posts and comments are respectful and appropriate.
A key question posed to the pupils for reflection before posting online content was: “Is what I am saying or sharing right and respectful?”
The pupils were also encouraged to commit the following message to memory: “As children, we may be young, but we are also citizens; what we post online matters for Ghana.”
The program formed part of the NCCE’s efforts to promote constitutional values, responsible citizenship, and safe digital participation among school children across the country.
