The NCCE in the Tano South Municipality of the Ahafo Region has engaged various groups to whip up their interest in the upcoming District Level Elections. The NCCE met Faith-based organizations (FBOs), artisans, and community-based organizations such as the Village Savings and Loans groups (VSLAs) among other youth groups to educate them on the need to turn out massively to vote in the District Level Elections scheduled for Tuesday 19th December 2023.
Mr. Prince Adomah Boakye (PCEO) made the call at a sensitization programme on the 2023 District Level Elections at Kwasu in the Tano South Municipal of the Ahafo Region. He educated the general public on the fact that the District Level elections form the base structure of the Local governance system and the root of Ghana’s democracy which must be taken seriously by every citizen of Ghana.
Again, he said the level of voter apathy and disinterest in the district-level polls over the years was a threat and setback to the development of democratic governance and called for a change.
Mr. Boakye (PCEO), also charged them to get involved in the District Level Elections on Tuesday, 19th December, 2023, and also said that it is about time the opinion leaders in their various communities demonstrated interest in who is chosen as their Assembly and unit committee members.
Lastly, he reiterated that it is important the electorate turn up and vote massively since the exercise forms an important feature in Ghana’s democratization process and indicated that the work of the District Assemblies would be more effective if the people support their elected Assembly and Unit Committee members by working closely with them to champion the developmental needs of their areas.
