The Akwapim South Municipal Directorate of the NCCE commenced its post-election engagements on January 24, 2025, within the Aburi township. The initiative focused on fostering peaceful coexistence and national unity following the recently concluded elections.
The outreach programme, led by a team of staff from the directorate, involved interactions with various identifiable groups, including Okada riders, dressmakers, food vendors, and shop attendants, among others. The engagements centred on encouraging citizens to prioritise national interests above personal or political affiliations, underscoring the importance of unity in national development.
Mrs. Sylvia Baiden, Senior Civic Education Officer (SCEO), and Ms. Janet Ocloo, Civic Education Officer (CEO), facilitated discussions on post-election tolerance and reconciliation. They highlighted the need for collective responsibility in maintaining peace and stability within the community and the nation at large.
The NCCE’s efforts aim to promote a culture of dialogue and understanding among citizens, ensuring that political differences do not disrupt the peace and harmony necessary for Ghana’s progress. The engagement formed part of the Commission’s broader mandate to uphold democratic principles and strengthen social cohesion in the aftermath of the 2024 General Election.
