NCCE Kwahu South Educates JHS Students on Children’s Rights in the Digital Space

The Kwahu South Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) on 13th May 2026 organized an educational programme for students of Nana Ampadu ‘A’ JHS and Nana Ampadu ‘B’ JHS on the topic, “Children’s Rights in the Digital Space,” with the programme bringing together teachers and students.

The engagement aimed to educate students on their rights and responsibilities in the digital environment and to promote safe and responsible internet usage among children. Discussions focused on children’s right to access digital technologies for learning and communication, as well as their right to protection from cyberbullying, online fraud, exploitation, and harmful online content.

Speaking during the session, Peggy Bruce educated students on the importance of protecting personal information online. She advised them not to share passwords, phone numbers, home addresses, or inappropriate photos and videos on the internet, stressing that such information could be misused and negatively affect their future.

Another speaker, Emmanuel Ofori, spoke on online trust and digital safety. He cautioned students against trusting strangers on social media and advised them not to meet online contacts without the guidance of parents or teachers. He further encouraged students to be mindful of their digital footprints and to avoid posting content that could damage their future opportunities.

Students actively participated in the programme by asking and answering questions, while teachers also contributed to the discussions. In all, the programme reached 260 students, comprising 120 males and 140 females from both schools.

The session ended successfully with students expressing appreciation for the education received and pledging to use digital technology responsibly, safely, and wisely.
