NCCE Honours Outgoing Civic Education Club Members at Archbishop Porter Girls’ Secondary School

Forty final-year students at Archbishop Porter Girls’ Secondary School at Fijai in the Western Region have been recognized by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) for their dedication and active participation in civic education activities during their years of study.

The recognition ceremony saw the presentation of Certificates of Membership to outgoing members of the school's Civic Education Club. The beneficiaries included club executives and members who demonstrated commitment to promoting civic values and responsible citizenship throughout their three-year academic journey.

The certificates were presented on behalf of the NCCE by the club patron, Mr. Gideon Kojo Wulesi Dampson, as part of the Commission’s efforts to acknowledge and encourage young people who actively participate in civic education programmes.

Addressing the students during the presentation, Mr. Dampson praised the outgoing members for their unwavering commitment and dedication to the club's activities. He particularly commended the executives for their leadership and contributions towards sustaining the club and advancing its objectives within the school community.

Furthermore, he encouraged the students to continue upholding the values of responsible citizenship, patriotism, integrity, and community service as they transition to the next phase of their educational journey. According to him, the knowledge and experiences gained through the Civic Education Club should serve as a foundation for active participation in national development.

Mr. Dampson also urged the students to become ambassadors of the NCCE by promoting civic responsibility and positive behavioural change within their communities. He emphasized that young people have a crucial role to play in strengthening democracy and fostering national cohesion through informed and responsible citizenship.

In addition, he advised the graduating students to consider joining civic education clubs at the tertiary level, particularly those aspiring to careers in politics, governance, public administration, and public service. He noted that such platforms provide valuable opportunities for leadership development, civic engagement, and personal growth.

The presentation ceremony served not only as a recognition of the students’ contributions but also as a motivation for continuing members to remain committed to the ideals of civic education and community service.

The National Commission for Civic Education remains committed to nurturing responsible and informed citizens through Civic Education Clubs in schools across the country. By recognizing the efforts of dedicated members, the Commission continues to inspire young people to actively contribute to nation-building and democratic governance.
