NCCE Highlights Civic Education for Active Democratic Participation

Mr. Victor Brobbey, Deputy Chairman, General Services, NCCE, has emphasized the critical role of civic education in shaping responsible citizenship and increasing youth participation in Ghana’s democracy. At a student engagement program, he urged students to resist negative political influences and actively participate in democratic processes.

With voter turnout hitting a historic low of 60% in the 2024 elections, it’s time for the youth to step up!
Dr. Mohammed Abass of KNUST also shared insights on peaceful coexistence, conflict resolution, and tackling misinformation in post-election periods. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Christopher Owusu-Mpianim, educated students on the Public Order Act.

The event featured a mock parliamentary session by the KNUST Student Parliament, giving students firsthand experience of parliamentary proceedings.

With support from UNDP and the UK Foreign Commonwealth Development Office, this marks the beginning of sustained student engagements to promote peaceful political participation.
