As part of the Citizenship Week celebration, the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Nkwanta North District engaged students of Kpassa Senior High Technical School at the school’s assembly hall.
The engagement, which was aimed at promoting responsible digital citizenship, focused on educating students about misinformation, disinformation, and online fraud in today’s digital environment.
During the programme, Mr. Kingdom, an ICT officer with the Ghana Education Service (GES) in Kpassa, served as the resource person. He advised students to always verify information before sharing it on the internet or mobile smartphones. In addition, he urged them to critically assess the content they personally post online to avoid spreading false information.
Furthermore, Mr. Kingdom encouraged students to use the internet positively, especially for academic development and personal growth. He stressed that digital tools should be seen as instruments for educational advancement rather than platforms for harm.
In a related remark, the District Director of NCCE in Kpassa, Mr. Fuseini Nurudeen, highlighted the importance of the week-long celebration. He explained that the initiative seeks to strengthen civic awareness among young people. Moreover, he cautioned students to remain vigilant against internet fraudsters and other online threats.
The programme ended with a call for students to practice responsible internet use and contribute positively to the digital space.
