Ghanaians must have trust and confidence in the Ghana Armed Forces. Our role in every election is to support the relevant stakeholders to organise a successful and peaceful election. We expect total cooperation of everybody for a successful 2020 election". These were some key points gathered from the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. General Obed Boamah Akwa when the NCCE called on the Military High Command to discuss the Commission's voter education activities with the Ghana Armed Forces.
Lt. General Akwa said each unit within the Army will once again work professionally for citizens to witness peaceful Presidential and Parliamentary Elections. A presentation by the Ghana Armed Forces on their preparedness for the upcoming elections indicates that the Ghana Army is ready to provide security before, during, and after the 2020 general election. The Command alerted the NCCE on some critical issues of national interest that the Commission must intensify public education.
Chairman of NCCE, Ms. Josephine Nkrumah, Deputy Chairman Finance and Administration, Ms. Kathy Addy, and other Commission officials were at the meeting at Burma Camp in Accra. Ms. Nkrumah took the Military High Command through well thought out civic and voter education programmes by the NCCE.
