NCCE Akwapim South Uses FAWE FM to Promote Responsible Digital Citizenship

The Akwapim South Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has participated in a radio discussion on FAWE FM 105.9 at Fotobi as part of activities marking the 2026 Citizenship Week Celebration.

Held on June 8, 2026, the programme focused on promoting responsible online behaviour, civic responsibility, and the safe use of digital platforms among young people and the general public.

Participants in the discussion included Delali Kwesi Dzorgbesi and William Nana Osei of the NCCE, as well as students and teachers from Aburi PWCE Demonstration JHS and Aburi KEMP Methodist JHS.

During the discussion, listeners were educated on the significance of Citizenship Week and the need for citizens, especially young people, to understand their rights and responsibilities in both physical and digital spaces.

The speakers highlighted the benefits of digital platforms, including learning, communication, access to information, and social interaction. They also drew attention to the risks associated with online activities, such as misinformation, cyberbullying, online fraud, abuse, and the careless sharing of personal information.

Students and the public were encouraged to use social media and other digital platforms responsibly by verifying information before sharing, respecting the rights and dignity of others, avoiding harmful content, and protecting their personal data.

The engagement further emphasized that good citizenship requires discipline, truthfulness, respect for the law, and responsible conduct online and offline.

Through the radio discussion, the NCCE helped to enhance public awareness of civic responsibility and responsible digital behaviour within the municipality.
