NCCE-CHURCH OF PENTECOST PUBLIC SENSITISATION ON COVID-19 PROGRESSES IN THE REGIONS

The joint National Commission for Civic Education and Church of Pentecost public sensitisation on COVID-19 progresses across the regions.

Focus of education is on what COVID-19 is about, symptoms of the disease and the need to observe safety protocols outlined by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and the Ministry of Health (MoH) such as observing social distancing, avoiding hugging, handshakes, touching of eyes, nose, mouth, regularly and thoroughly washing hands with soap under running water and use of alcohol-based sanitizer. The Ghanaians in lockdown regions have been advised to stay home in order to help contain the spread of the pandemic.

Strategies of engagement were street announcements in communities, markets, bus terminals and lorry stations using cinema vans on zonal basis, radio and television discussions and interviews. Underneath were activities undertaken in the regions:

Eastern Region-The NCCE Eastern Regional education campaign team on COVID-19 has reached out to the people of Akyemansa, Asuogyaman, Fanteakwa districts and environs

Bono Region-Ms. Doris Gbongbo, NCCE Bono Regional Director (in green NCCE ‘T’-shirt) led the sensitization activities on COVID-19 in the region.
Northern Region-Northern Regional Directorate spearheaded the awareness raising and sensitization campaign of COVID-19 in the region. Areas reached included: Kumbungu, Yendi, Karaga, Nachamba No. 1 in the Tatale district (Ghana-Togo border).

Areas reached included: Kumbungu, Yendi, Karaga, Nachamba No. 1 in the Tatale district (Ghana-Togo border).
