Interfaith Peace Education takes place at Akyem Assuom

NCCE in the Kwaebibirem District has undertaken an interfaith engagement with the Muslim Community at Akyem Assuom in the Eastern Region.

The NCCE team engaged the religious group on good citizenship, political tolerance, religious tolerance and general voter and civic education. There were also discussions on maintaining peace before, during and after the December 7, elections.

The engagement took place at the Central Mosque and the New Zongo Mosque, all in the Assoum township. The sessions were held concurrently at the two mosques immediately after the Friday afternoon prayers.

The New Zongo Mosque had Mallam Ali as the worship leader for the day, while Mallam Alhassan led the prayers at the Central Mosque.

The team was received by the Assemblyman of the Asuom Amanfrom the Electoral area, Honourable Asante. He assisted in the mobilization before the team's arrival and also before the programme commenced.

Mr. Joshua Addo Asiedu, Mr Edward Opare, Mr Godfred Annobel and Mr Elisha Nartey were the Civic Educators for the day.
