Ho-Lokoe Technical Institute Students Urged to Uphold Discipline for Academic Excellence

Students of Ho-Lokoe Technical Institute have been encouraged to maintain discipline and obey school rules and regulations to improve their academic performance and become responsible citizens in society.

The advice was given by Rev. Vincent Adzika during the school’s SRC Week Celebration held in Ho in the Volta Region.

Speaking on the theme, “Indiscipline and Its Effects on Academic Performance in the Context of the 1992 Constitution,” Rev. Adzika noted that indiscipline among students continues to hinder effective teaching and learning in many educational institutions. He identified truancy, examination malpractice, disrespect for authority, drug abuse, and lateness to school as some of the major behaviors contributing to poor academic performance.

According to him, the 1992 Constitution of Ghana places responsibilities on every citizen, including students, to respect authority, obey laws, and uphold the good name of the country. He stressed that discipline remains an essential tool for academic success, personal growth, and national development.

Rev. Adzika further advised students to remain focused on their studies, avoid negative peer pressure, and make productive use of their time to achieve their educational goals. He also urged them to use social media responsibly and cultivate good moral values both in school and within their communities.

“Discipline is the link that connects goals with achievement,” he stated. “Your intelligence does not determine your destiny; your character and conduct do.”

The Principal of the Institute, Ms. Perfect Aku Fiakwadzo, expressed appreciation to the guest speaker for the insightful presentation and encouraged students to put the lessons learnt into practice.

Also present at the celebration was Mr. George Anani Gbadago, who urged students to take their studies seriously and comply with the school’s code of conduct to avoid sanctions.

The SRC Week Celebration brought together students, teachers, and invited guests as part of efforts to promote discipline, leadership, and academic excellence in the school.
