The Akuapem North Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education has engaged members of the Women Fellowship, at the Grace Presbyterian Church, Akropong - Akuapem on women empowerment and the Domestic Violence Act, 2007 (Act 732).
The Municipal Director, Ms. Benedicta Duvor encouraged the audience to be assertive and do away with fear when it comes to decision-making at home, church, community, and the nation as a whole. She further entreated the women to empower the younger generation, especially young girls through formal and informal education for the young adults to be strong, smart, vocal, and not easily intimidated.
Ms. Duvor gave a detailed explanation of the Domestic Violence Act 2007, (Act 732). She explained issues of physical, emotional/psychological, economic, and sexual abuse and causes of violence in domestic settings as contained in the Act. She further, advised the audience to stay away from acts that constitute domestic violence.
